To join, students must prove that they are enrolled in a school toproviding an e-mail. “Edu” - used by institutions in the United States. The aim of the ”Groups for Schools” (go here) is to form a social networkconnected to each school, with emphasis on the sharing of information used in the classroom - you can send files up to 25 Mbytes. According to the site ”PC World”, only currently enrolled students and teachers can use the new function - ie, former students are out. Furthermore, when a student leaves the institution, he is automatically removed from the group.

As with other Facebook groups, a manager should invite the members. There are three types of groups: open (anyone can see who is in the group and post on the Wall), closed (everyone can see who is in the group, but only members can post), and Secret (only members can see that the group exists and who it is).

As the spokesperson for the Facebook , the new tool is not yet available in other countries except US. The “Groups for Schools” is being tested by schools in the U.S. and has no provision to reach the country.
